sticks
Always have to chuckle when I see people in the Netherlands without skis but using sticks to propel themselves.
However, in the Mountains, with a large backpack, these sticks are indispensable. At first, from a historical obsession as a cyclist, I chose carbon sticks but now swear by these aluminum sticks!
As shown in the photos below, even these still go "crooked" regularly but that's always better than breaking.
The article on the right was in Bergen magazine when I flew back from Inverness in June 24, so I concur. The photos of the crooked stick are also from that adventure. (Aviemore, the Cairngorms)
Below also earlier options that later turned out to be so not strong enough.
