May 2025 – 13th Scottish Adventure
Scotland
‘family adventure’
day 1 of 7
Wednesday, August 20
Glasgow
Where I wrote about my previous adventure with
blush on my cheeks
that I had set up my tent only 2x
I must now confess that this adventure
was only 1 (ONE!!) time.
It’s really starting to look like clamping now,
especially if you include the view
in this observation.
Outrageous!
Next x just plan another real
‘trek’ like in
previous adventures!
0 Munro’s this day:
Zero! so
I could not initially place the situation in the first photo of this page.
From a distance, these 3 deer stood side by side so beautifully
that I thought they were people.
Indians who were waiting for me on a ridge
to see if I came in peace.
Wrong storyline in a different setting
but this was even nicer.
These 3 deer knew I was coming to enjoy their beautiful backyard
for a week and welcomed me this way.
I’m really going to look for a good camera now!
In this photo, they are “behind each other”
where before they were “side by side.
This is also nice but that other scene was really
just like they were waiting for.
Were looking at me with genuine wonder.
Unfortunately, that photo, with my current Olympus Though 6,
is not sharp enough to post here.
I capture stories through video and photography.
My good friend Edwin Veer transforms them into stunning visuals.

Most Beautiful Video
The 3 Deer are waiting for me at the entrance to this beautiful valley.
To get there, you must first hike along this beautiful Loch!
Details
this day
1. Fish and Chips
If you want to go this way especially take a good look at my first steps!
Not taking the transition with the phone (see photo) but directly to the road and eventually through the tunnel to the dam.
Is very strange that suddenly there is a telephone at a railroad crossing.
And when you call it is answered!
Nice conversation in which I could not refrain from asking “where are you!”?
That was disappointing because this turned out to be just in Dahlwinnie.
No doubt it was a misunderstanding but from this conversation I understood that I had to return to the station. There cross the footbridge and then on to the Loch.
May well have missed something but that doesn’t work either.
Pretty clever to run wrong twice in the first few hundred meters!
2. Split the G
Never seen so many cyclists in Scotland.
Normally I don’t say hello to that crowd but these turned out to be remarkably nice people! Lots of bikepackers too who set up their tents at the Bothie.
More on that in the extended Video!
Funny that a lot of cyclists with hiking backpacks (including hiking poles) headed towards this beautiful area on their bikes. Totally understandable since the long stretch along the Loch (beautiful!) is just as beautiful after the first time of course on a bike.
3. Cottages
I am very happy with my Hilleberg cottage but here are some wonderful cottages too. Check out the photos and videos later how people live like god in Scotland here! As I was walking back (day 7) there was 2x a private jet coming over the Loch ‘waving’ its wings at the level of the Castles.
This is to give a brief idea of the level of the residents.
In the cab to the airport I heard from the cab driver who lives here.
The 3 castles belong to one owner and when I heard the name I understood that this, including the jet, is logical.
