May 2025 – 12th Scottish Adventure

Scotland
‘Ben alder 9’
day 7 of 7
Wednesday, May 7

Back to Dahlwinnie
(and Inverness!)

And then this adventure is also over.
A last walk through these beautiful surroundings
on the way back to Dahlwinnie station.

0 Munro’s this day:

Back to Inverness – Back to the hotel!

Recently together with Edwin put a lot of time and energy into the website.

It is important to mention that we also have a lot of fun.
Preferably over a beer in our regular pub in the Jordaan, but regularly
by phone, email or whatsapp or a video call.

The photo below came along with a comment from Edwin
that it reminded him of “my life’s path the past few years.

This is not the place to share those experiences,
that will come in another book.
His words summarized below are not
only wonderful but also justified.

‘deep valley, high mountain, winding but facing the horizon’

A friendship like this provides support during this time
during which, thankfully!, so there has been room for old-fashioned humor for quite some time
.

I capture stories through video and photography.

My good friend Edwin Veer transforms them into stunning visuals.

Most Beautiful Video

What else can you do when the hotel room is not ready?

(For more details, see ‘details this day’ below this video)

Details
this day

1. Antlers

Sometimes I don’t speak to anyone for the whole adventure.
Sometimes I have a brief conversation with people who have lived here all their lives.
Very often they know more about this beautiful area which is then not too difficult. In this case it was someone who told me that it brings good luck if you find antlers. It was the 5th day, almost to the top of Ben Alder. That evening I walked one of my famous apron cuts that most often ended in a detour. While chuckling about that too at a time when I was very much in need of a hot meal and a dry tent I came across these antlers. Luck!

2. Old habits

First thing I do when I get back to civilization is take a shower or bath. Then a real meal as soon as possible!

If in the meantime I come across the option somewhere, it is not a problem, on the contrary, this order to exchange.

In this case, see video, my room was not ready yet so unfortunately I had to wait a while.

3. Train ride

Funny that the train ride was exactly the same as on my last adventure.
Where before I got to know all the stations from/direction of Glasgow is now at Inverness.

Next adventure again old fashioned Glasgow.
This time with the family, nice!
