May 2025 – 12th Scottish Adventure

Scotland
‘Ben alder 9’
day 3 of 7
Saturday, May 3

2 Munro’s,
a round the lake
and a wonderful lunch spot

Preparations for the next adventure begin
right after the last adventure is “online.”
Lovely to relive once again all that happened that week
to be able to share the best images.

Now that we finally have a template that “stands,” it is a joy
to review, select and make the images available as nicely as possible
.

Must not forget to mention my good big friend Edwin.
Thanks to his knowledge and experience but of course also time and energy
there is now a beautiful picture.

For today, in preparing for this adventure, I had ended up
at a place where I really should have been yesterday.
Already mentioned this yesterday but during the hike
of course it is always possible to deviate from the plan.
Because of the weather but also because you simply see an, even, more beautiful route.

If it also works out that today I end up exactly around
lunchtime at the spot from the video below, it is absolutely perfect.
Finally an hour at this spot enjoyed the view
of which a short part just with my eyes closed.

2 Munro’s this day:

Geal-Chárn (Laggan) -Creag Pitridh

Again, these Munro’s planned based on information from fellow Munro-Baggers on WalkHighlands.

Below are the links to the day’s Munros:

I capture stories through video and photography.

My good friend Edwin Veer transforms them into stunning visuals.

Most Beautiful Video

If you look at the map above, the spot in the video is exactly where the trail crosses next to the lake on the left. In the Bealach (“the saddle”) enjoyed the quiet and the view.

Details
this day

1. Calibrate !!!???

I thought I was being clever for a moment.
Had looked on the map to see what altitude I was at.
That differed slightly from the altitude my Garmin indicated while, in the Bealach, I was exactly where I was.

Therefore pressed the ‘calibrate altitude’ option with which I immediately caused a flatliner from that point on.

(see Komoot screen above)

2. Komoot

The beauty of Komoot is that you can create a Collection in which you can bundle all walks within 1 adventure. If you go to the first page of this adventure you will see this option. Through this link you go directly to the Collection of this adventure where you will see that the altimeters, despite the mentioned flatliner, do add up.

(thank goodness!)

3. Dutch Scots

While descending Creag Pitridh, a large dog approached me.

I had already seen the owners, then still with their dog, descending opposite me from Geal Chàrn but they were not so fast.

The dog now stayed with me during the descent until we met his owners together again. She had worked and lived in Amsterdam for 2 years and he had studied in Utrecht!

They were very positive about the Netherlands and I, of course, about Scotland.
Even walking Scots find it special when you stay outside for a week which of course always comes up when I tell my story.

When I called them Dutch Scots and they responded by laughing at me a Scottish Dutchman I took it as a GREAT compliment!

(High time to apply for a Scottish Passport)
