'Ben alder 9'
May 2025
Started from Dahlwinnie Station for 9 Munros
Duration: 7 days, 6 nights
Region: Fort William - Cairngorms
Kilometers: 153
Ascent: 5710 meters
Like every (Scottish) adventure, this time we made a plan for a week in which each time it depends on the circumstances (the weather) how many miles will eventually be walked
11 Munro's during this adventure:
Geal-Chárn (Laggan) -Creag Pitridh - Beinn a'Chlachair
Càrn Dearg (Lock Pattack) - Geal-Chàrn (Alder) - Aonach Beag (Alder)
Beinn Èibhinn - Beinn Bheoil - Ben Alder
I capture stories through video and photography.
My good friend Edwin Veer transforms them into stunning visuals.

Inverness is now, also, "coming home."
Not comparable to a "real airport" as in Glasgow.
More like the airport at Legoland.
You walk down the stairs accompanied by someone from the airport.
Through the yellow barrier toward the small building where
customs is located.
Then to 1 baggage belt for the entire airport.
Delicious!
Had to think of this because I am finally,
after 12 "Scottish Adventures,"
going to schedule an adventure to show my family
what I enjoy so much.
Then we fly into Glasgow.
Going by train, including a layover and a Munro, to Inverness.
From there back to Amsterdam.
Of course, I will write a report on that as well.
The location in the photo above is An-Tochailt Lodge
at the beginning of Loch Ericht btw.
Also beautiful!
Of course the Munro's during this Scottish Adventure
also planned again based on the information from fellow Munro-Baggers on WalkHighlands.
Below are the links to the Munros from this Adventure:

Most Beautiful Video
Wonderful first miles of this adventure with words of wisdom heading towards 7 wonderful days of solo hiking around and over Ben Alder!
Details
1. "You look like a golfer!
Of course, you should not let others' comments upset you. Quite honestly; this one comes hard! The flight attendant, otherwise very friendly and professional as always , asks just before landing if she can ask me something. But of course!
'Are you going to play golf in Scotland?
You look like a typical Golfer!'
I type this a day later after breakfast over a delicious cup of coffee.
At the hotel where the crew also always stays.
Fortunately, they have already returned to Amsterdam on the early flight.
I could not have faced the confrontation even though I am now in my hiking outfit.
2. Ironwork
Shortly after the above, an employee of this hotel comes to clear the table. I clearly see that she has some new piercings on her face and tell about someone very dear to me.
Who I talk to a few times a year where she asks me "and", "what do you see!?". Lots of piercings, lots of tattoos but whether there are any new ones? I tell her that I do see that some have been added since last October and we say goodbye while she proudly promises that next time there will be some more.
We are curious!
3. Schedule so you can deviate from it!
The image shows the planned order of the Munros. In the reports of the next few days you will see the order actually run.
I always have this booklet in my map folder so I immediately know the names of the Munros I will be hiking this adventure. Especially handy when I run into locals who know every blade of grass in this area.
At the end of the week, the schedule always turns out, thankfully, to have turned out slightly different.
'Good planning is the starting point of a wonderful adventure that runs differently.'
