Scotland 'Kingussie 4' - Day 7 of 7 - Tuesday, Oct. 15

October 2024 - 11th Scottish Adventure
Standard 7 days (click here for explanation)

Back to Kingussie
(and Inverness!)

And then this adventure is also over.
One more walk through these beautiful surroundings
on the way back towards Kingussie station.

0 Munro’s this day:

Back to Inverness – Back to the hotel!

It seems like I have something against the A9 this adventure, and that’s true.

I have absolutely no right to speak but it feels
very Scottish to curse this infamous road.

Normally, frankly, this would have been out of a kind of schadenfreude as well.
In this adventure, I have too often been bothered by “the crowds” myself for that.
In my case more the noise and the headlights at night than
the consequences of the physical crowdedness in terms of the number of cars
and the inevitable traffic jams.

In the photo below, I tried to combine the beauty of the country with the crowds on the A9 and then in the way the road users face it.

I myself crossed this road on days 4 and 7 via a tunnel.

Most Beautiful Video

Of course it hurts,
right after another wonderful adventure,
to leave this beautiful area!

Although of course a nice bath and a real meal is also something to look forward to.

Details
this day

1. Reading glasses

I have a simple list that I go through about 10 times before I go out. In the case of my phone, which is always off when I’m on the road, there is a small Noozy reading glasses by default. On the train, I found out that this was not the case, hence the odd dash to the right on the first day 😉. Sunday afternoon, looking for reading glasses in Newtonmore with the benefit of listening to NOS Sport!

(rest of the week, lovely!, no connection and the phone off)

2. New habits

Being in Glasgow feels like coming home.

The hotel, the route to the train station, the outdoor shop where I buy my last things before going on an adventure. In Inverness I had to find my way again which of course only makes an adventure more fun. Hotel is even closer to the train station and on the way there several outdoor stores!

3. Train ride

From / to Glasgow is also now standard by train, sometimes by bus. This was another new experience with new, and familiar, stops which also made it more fun.
